Bertha Severina (Hanson) Olson was born March 18, 1889, near Paxton, Illinois, the daughter of Mads and Helen Hanson. When a few months old she moved with her parents to the community of Britt, Iowa, residing there for twelve years, when upon the death of her mother, her father brought his little family to Minnesota to be with relatives. They located in the Boyd community where she lived until her marriage to Oscar Olson November 28, 1909, when they moved to Lorne, Minnesota, where they lived a few years. Other places of residence were Boyd, Montevideo, Bird Island and to Clarkfield in 1932, where she has since resided. Mrs. Olson had been in failing health for the past few years, but became seriously ill a short time ago. Her release from suffering and pain came Sunday, June 22, 1952, at 1 p.m., when the Lord called her to be with Him. Mrs. Olson is preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister and is survived by her husband, Oscar; son, Milford; daughter-in-law, Gertrude; and granddaughter, Linda Kaye. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: B.A. Hanson of Cokato, T.O. Hanson of Clarkfield, Gerhard Hanson of Granite Falls, Harold Hanson of Lyons, South Dakota, Mrs. Walter Torgerson of Clarkfield and Mrs. S.M. Swenson of Dawson. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, June 25, 1952, 2:00 p.m. at the Full Gospel Assembly, Clarkfield, Minnesota, Rev. Helen Jepson of Minneapolis officiating. Miss Gladys Norem and Miss Christine Nydahl sang a duet and Mrs. Melvin Falkum sang a solo. Rev. Faye Mether of Renville, also sang a solo. Pallbearers were six nephews: Nelton Swenson, Norman Dahl, Glenn Dahl, Murl Knutson, Milton Hanson and Harry Wold. Interment was made in the cemetery at Boyd.
