Bernice H. Dranttel Crist, a Clarkfield and St. Peter, Minnesota, resident for most of her life passed away on August 16, 2001, at the age of 84 in Dallas, Texas. She was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church and a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Bernice was a courageous woman who loved to try new things. For 18 winters, both Bernice and her husband Don were known as "Texas Snowbirds". They would migrate to Texas during the winters and spend time with family and friends. Bernice will be remembered for her entrepreneurial mind and mission in life that always kept her working. Her work ethic was admirable. For nearly 40 years, Bernice and Don owned and operated the Coast to Coast Hardware Store in Clarkfield. Church, family and friends were very dear to her. She loved to spend time outside at the lake, square dance with Don and play golf. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Don Crist (1/19/00). She is survived by her son Terry Crist and wife Mary Jo of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren: Tim Crist and his wife Wendy of Parker, Colorado, Lisa Crist of Dallas, Texas, and Annie Crist of Richardson, Texas; great granddaughters: Kyleigh and Emma Crist of Parker, Colorado; sisters: Delores McArthur of Mankato, Minnesota, Carol Berggren of Denver, Colorado, Margaret Ann Hackley of Tacoma, Washington; and sister-in-law Marilla Niichel of Mankato, Minnesota.
