Obituary

Berdella Mildred (Raddohl) Rupp was born March 12, 1918, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to parents Alfred and Olga (Swenson) Raddohl. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She and her family moved to the Hazel Run area when she was three years old. She attended the Hazel Run Public School through the eighth grade. She attended Clarkfield High School through the tenth grade. She was confirmed at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church, Hazel Run, Minnesota, in 1932. Berdella was united in marriage on November 24, 1936, to Vernon Rupp at her parents home. Berdella farmed with her husband for their entire married life. They lived and farmed at Upper Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, for six years before moving to their Clarkfield farm in 1948. Berdella and Vernon left the farm in Clarkfield and moved to her parents farm near Hazel Run in 1970. Berdella was an active 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed gardening and was instrumental in beginning the first Garden Club in Yellow Medicine County, called the Roadside Garden Club. She was a Sunday School teacher, very active in Ladies Aide and Luther League. She helped organize the Clarkfield Square Dance Club and was a member of the Hazel Run Fiddle Footers. She loved dancing and she, with her father as a partner, won many contests. She was in Saddle Club and was active in the school programs in Clarkfield. Vernon passed away in 1987. Berdella continued to farm with help from family until the early 1990s. She moved to an assisted living home in Olivia, Minnesota, in 1998. She moved to Home Front in Montevideo in November of this year, to be closer to family. She passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 24 days. She is survived by her daughters: Sandra (and Bob) Weber of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Zona (and Roger) Larson of Clarkfield; eight grandchildren: Hollis (and Vera) Weber of Hazel Run, Randy Larson (and fiance Marlene) of Montevideo, Rolynn (and Barb) Larson of Chaska, Minnesota, Todd (and Diane) Weber of Watson, Minnesota, Valerie (and Scott) Santjer of Granite Falls, Kyle (and Pam) Weber of Granite Falls, Tanya (and Tim) Yerigan of Granite Falls, and Bobbie O'Brien of Granite Falls; 27 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Olive (Raddohl) Sorgaard and Irene Rupp; and nieces: Pat Ludgate, RaMona Johnson, Linda Cushman, Judy Werner; and numerous other nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon; her parents; brother Gordon Raddohl; nephew Gary Raddohl; and Great Grandson Clinton McCoss. Blessed be her memory.
