Bennie Hognestad was born September 27, 1885, in Hazel Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Hendrick Hognestad and Bertha (Thorson) Hognestad. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He lived his entire life at the home place and near Hazel Run and was a lifelong member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Mr. Hognestad had been active and in apparent good health until he passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, March 12, 1959, at the age of 73 years, five months and 15 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Henry, Thomas and Bernard and two sisters, Bertha and Bendina. He leaves to mourn his passing, his sister, Josephine (Mrs. Tom Thorson) of Seattle Washington, and a number of nieces, nephews and friends. Blessed be his memory.
