Obituary

Benjamin Anderson was born on a farm west of Cottonwood, Minnesota, September 5, 1890. His parents were Gjermond and Severina (Barstad) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Silo Lutheran Church. He attended the Academy at Canton, South Dakota, for a time. Mr. Anderson held various jobs in the community including being mayor of Cottonwood from 1933 to 1937. A great philanthropist, he gave his land in Canada to the American Lutheran Church and his local holdings to St. Olaf College. The organ at Christ Lutheran Church was given and maintained by Ben and his family. In 1969 Ben entered the Clarkfield Care Center. He died on Sunday, February 15, 1975, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital at the age of 84 years. IN MEMORY OF BENJAMIN J.
