Obituary

Miss Bella Wilmina Skjeveland, daughter of Wilhelm and Brita (Chilson) Skjeveland, was born in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, March 17, 1892. She was baptized and confirmed in the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Miss Skjeveland spent her entire life in the home community. Several times during her life she was seriously ill, but she was constantly concerned about helping others and especially to tell them about Jesus. The best years of her life she gave to God and work in her church. She taught religion 37 years in the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, the last 14 years as superintendent of the Release Time Religious instruction school and Kindergarten. She loved children and youth, and to the last was concerned about their welfare. She was an active member of the church, Hanley Falls Ladies Aid, a past secretary of Home Mission for Rock Valley circuit, and youth counselor. Wednesday, May 19, 1954, she suffered an accident that broke her right arm, and was taken to the Clarkfield Hospital. It was her wish to spend her last days here, and she had excellent care which she also appreciated. Monday morning, June 28, 1954, she quietly went to sleep in Jesus' Name. Her parents and seven sisters and a brother preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing, two brothers, Selian Skjevland of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Thebert Skjeveland of Hanley Falls; a half-sister, Mrs. Ed Eye of Hanley Falls; a half brother, Reuben Johnson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a large number of nieces and nephews and many other relatives. She is deeply mourned by all children and youth she taught these many years. Blessed be her memory.
