Barbara Gene Skaug was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota, on December 3, 1925. She graduated from high school in 1943. She and a friend went to Seattle, Washington, to work at the Boeing Aircraft factory in 1943. She worked at Mork Hardware for several years before her marriage to Kermit Olaf Vik in 1961. Barbara started a beauty shop in her home. They adopted a baby girl, Lisa, in January 1966. Ole died in March 1966 and Barbara raised the child alone. Barbara trained as a Nurses Aid in 1984 and was employed at the Clarkfield Care Center. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa; two granddaughters, Jessica and Emily; three sisters; and nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
