August Voss was born on March 20, 1874, at Belle Plaine, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Henrietta (Kahan) Voss. In 1878 the family moved to a farm north of Canby, Minnesota, in Oshkosh Township. On June 15, 1898, Mr. Voss was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kelm. To this union two sons and two daughters were born. In 1912 August and his family moved west of Clarkfield to the farm which he purchased and has resided on ever since. In spite of his advanced age of almost 83 years, Mr. Voss had been quite active until the last week. He suffered a stroke early last Tuesday morning, and was taken to the hospital in Clarkfield where he died Saturday morning, Febraury 16, 1957, at an age of 82 years, 11 months and 28 days. He is survived by two sons, Helmer of Boyd, Minnesota, Ewald of Porter, Minnesota, and one daughter, Olga, at home. There are also three grandsons and one great granddaughter. One brother, Henry, resides in Spokane, Washington, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Titius, lives in Corona, California. His wife and one daughter, Anna (Mrs. George Nagel) preceded him in death.
