Audrey Melbostad Hill was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota, on September 10, 1925, to Oscar and Ida (Lindquist) Melbostad. Audrey and brother Arvid were baptized and confirmed in the Clarkfield Norwegian Lutheran Church. Following graduation from Clarkfield Senior High School, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to attend the Minnesota School of Business. She met Robert John Hill in college and they married September 9, 1950, in the Clarkfield Norwegian Lutheran Church. The couple moved back to Minneapolis, but promotions and transfers led them to Milwaukee, New York City, back to Minneapolis, Peoria, then Cleveland and Detroit. They had two children, Robert and Carolyn. When they eventually retired, they chose to move to Clarkfield in 1990. Audrey was always active in the Lutheran Church wherever they lived, teaching children's Sunday School classes and adult Bible Studies. She was also active in Coral Ridge Evangelism, the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and Meals-on-Wheels. She especially enjoyed her involvement at Clarkfield Lutheran Church with Confirmation mentoring, WELCA, the quilting ministry and the prayer chain. After a year-long struggle with Mesothelioma, Audrey passed away at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital early Sunday morning, November 1, 2009, at the age of 84 years. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, brother Arvid and husband Bob. Audrey is survived by sisters-in-law Joanne Melbostad and Gerry Hill; son Robert M. Hill of Bay City, Michigan; daughter Carolyn Aldridge of Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughters Kristine and Rachel Hill, Allie, Jenna & Emily Aldridge; and many dear nieces and nephews.
