Arvid Allen Rikke was born December 22, 1929 at the Canby Hospital to parents John and Alma (Kopitzke) Rikke. He was baptized on February 2, 1930 and confirmed May 2, 1943 at Augustana Lutheran Church of Clarkfield. Arvid attended Country School District #44 and Clarkfield Public School. . Arvid was united in marriage to Burnell Brummer on November 1, 1952 at Renville, MN. To this union five children were born. Arvid worked on the farm with his dad until entering the United States Army in January of 1950 and served in Korea until his discharge in June of 1951. He farmed for a number of years before going to work as a mechanic for Western Dairy of Clarkfield. He also worked for Miller Equipment of Clarkfield, Moduline Homes in Montevideo, General Dryer of Clarkfield, and was a truck driver for Crosby Construction Company. He also did some field work for area farmers. Arvid enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, the Boyd American Legion Post #198, and the Dawson V.F.W. Post #5247. Arvid Allen Rikke passed away on Friday, October 3, 1997 at the Veterans Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He reached :he age of 67 years, 9 months, and 12 days. He is survived by his wife, Burnell, and his children: Allen (and friend Jean Shippe) of Nebraska; John (and Joni) of Wyoming; Lucina (and Mike) Saue of Dawson, MN; and Steve (and Tammy) of Maynard, MN. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Shirla (and Sander) Peterson of Apache Junction, AZ and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Rikke; baby girl Rikke; brother Sheldon and sister Ruth Ann Schafer.
