Arvid "Bud" Dallas Severson was born September 26, 1924, at Granite Falls, Minnesota, to parents Sever and Anna (Jeritz) Severson. He had a brother Marvin and sister Lyla. He was baptized on October 24, 1924, and confirmed in 1938 in Granite Falls. He attended school in Hanley Falls. Bud served in the United States Army from February of 1945 to October 1946. Bud and Betty Marie Bailie were married December 29, 1944, at Willmar, Minnesota. They were the parents of two sons: Russell and Sheldon. He worked for Winters Chevrolet following his discharge from the Military and later worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, a job he held for 33 years. Bud and Betty were also the owners of the B&B Cafe in Clarkfield, Minnesota, for several years. Bud enjoyed softball and baseball. He had been a coach for Legion softball and baseball. Bud and Russell were planning a trip to the Minnesota Twins game for today (Thursday). He would often be seen in the Friendship Cafe at the "round table" with his good friends. He enjoyed eating at the mealsite and helping out. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and J. Ben Johnson Post #169. Arvid "Bud" Severson passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at the Granite Falls Hospital, following a fall at his home, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 8 days. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Betty, of Clarkfield, son Russell of Clarkfield and son Sheldon (and Lana) of Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ryan, Dereck, Cari, Aaron, Amy and Krista and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sever and Anna Severson and brother Marvin and sister Lyla. Blessed be his memory.
