Arthur Smeins died February 9, 1984, at the age of 72 at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. The funeral was held Monday, February 13, 1984, 11:00 a.m. at the Lynner Funeral Home Chapel, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Gordon Trelstad officiating. Soloist was Mr. Merrill Womach who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Casket Bearers were Craig Husby, James Kranze, Wesley Husby, Russell Kranze, Gary A. Johnson, and Ernest Solseth. Final Resting Place is the Clarkfield City Cemetery, Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was born January 13, 1912, to William and Maggie (Becker) Smeins in South Dakota. He had been a farmer and a mechanic in Adrian, Minnesota and Park Rapids, Minnesota. These later years, he lived on a farm near Montevideo, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Leon of Wayzata, Minnesota, Loren of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, Judy (Mrs. James) Smith of Brush, Colorado, and Arlen of Winona, Minnesota.
