Arthur S. Forbord, Sr., was born August 15, 1890, on the Forbord farm south of Clarkfield, Minnesota, to Ole and Ida (Isaacs) Forbord. He served in World War I, after which he was united in marriage ot Helen Weatheral of Exeter, New Hampshire, in 1919. To this union eight children were born of whom five survive their father, namely: Rebecca Stulz of Bethel, Minnesota, Arthur, Jr., of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Bessie Wester of Benson, Minnesota, Martha Husby of Moorhead, Minnesota, and David of the U.S. Air Force, now in Korea. He resided in the Clarkfield community until 1938 when he moved to Benson, Minnesota. In 1946 he moved to Starbuck, Minnesota, where he lived until 1948 when his health failed him and he moved to Moorhead, Minnesota, to live with his daughter, Mrs. Albert Stulz, until confined to Veterans' Hospitals. In 1949 he submitted to major operation from which he failed to recover. He was bedridden for the past three years and passed away from a heart attack at the home of his sister, Mrs. Delia Haverly July 25, 1953, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was at the time of his death, 62 years, 11 months and 10 days old. Preceding him in death were his wife in 1934; two daughters, Helen and Esther; and one son, Wesley, who was killed in Korea in 1950.
