Arthur D. Lee was born on November 7, 1900, at Clarkfield, Minnesota, to parents Andrew and Christine (Winson) Lee. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1920, Art went to work for the Great Western Grain Company at Madison, Minnesota. He was their manager. He worked for the Company until 1928, when he purchased an Oil Station in Clarkfield, Minnesota. In 1935, he sold his business to Consumers Co-op Oil Company and worked for them as their manager, a position he held for 30 years. While still working for Consumers Oil Company, he was instrumental in organizing the Western Co-op Transport in Montevideo, Minnesota, in 1959. He helped to manage this company until he retired. Art was united in marriage to Angeline Waterud of Dawson, Minnesota, on June 2, 1936. To this union was born a son, Jon. Art enjoyed sports, participating in baseball and golf. He played in the first State Baseball Tournament with the team from Madison, Minnesota. He also played golf until he was 98 years old. Art passed away early Wednesday morning, March 8, 2000, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 99 years, 4 months and 1 day. He is survived by his wife, Angeline of Clarkfield; son Jon and wife, Ana Maria; and grandson Fausto Luna. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Alvin, William, Orris, and Ernest; and four sisters: Bessie, Lillian, Marian, and Arlene. Blessed be his memory.
