Arthur James Hargrave, son of Clarence and Cora (Rasmussen) Hargrave was born January 2, 1921, in Clay County, Iowa. He spent his childhood years on the farm in Royal and later in the Dickens, Iowa community. Arthur married Helen Cooke on January 15, 1942. They farmed first in Iowa until 1952, when they moved to Minnesota. He worked in the Clarkfield Cheese Plant for eight years, after his sons took over the farm in 1970. Arthur and Helen built a home on the farm and continued to reside there, but also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. He was a long time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, Minnesota. Art passed away on Monday, February 10, 2003, while visiting in McAllen, Texas, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 8 days. He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter Connie (and Eddie) Gage of Boyd; two sons: Terry (and wife Eileen) of Pierz, Minnesota, and Lerry (and Gloria) of Boyd. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister Thelma Kress of Dexter, Minnesota; brother Virgil of Lisbon, Iowa; sister Donna Kladstrup of Burnet, Texas; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Cora. Arthur was a super farmer and dairy farmer. He was a wonderfully dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and neighbor. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Blessed be his memory.
