Obituary

Arthur Akvik was born January 17, 1921, in Tyro Township, rural Clarkfield, to John and Olga Aakvik. He was baptized on March 6, 1921, and confirmed on May 3, 1936, at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. He lived with the Elmer Aakvik family after his mother died. He attended Clarkfield School and later served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. After service he lived in Coosbay, Oregon, working in construction. Arthur died December 6, 1991, at the Bay Area Hospital in Coosbay, Oregon, at the age of 70 years. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters, Melvin Aakvik of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Evelyn Sorenson of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Myrtle Booker of Keokuk, Iowa, Bennie Aakvik of Walcott, North Dakota; and sister-in-law, Doris Aakvik of Montevideo, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Josephine; and sister, Judith Hanson; and brother, Carl Aakvik. Funeral services: Wednesday, December 11, 1991, Lynner Funeral Home Chapel, Clarkfield, Minnesota Officiant: Pastor Gordon Trelstad officiating. Vocal music: Merrill Womach. Casket bearers: Tony Brusven, Steve Brusven, Edward Hanson, Marlyn Hanson, Larry Sorenson, Leslie Vien. Military rites: J. Ben Johnson American Legion Post #169.
