Arnt Olaus Simundson, son of Ole and Hannah (Johnson) Simundson, was born on their Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota farm home, March 3, 1876. He was brought to the Lord in baptism in the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, Hanley Falls, Minnesota, on April 9, 1976, by Pastor Knute Thorstenson. On July 19, 1891, he was confirmed by the same pastor. Having lived his entire life in the Hanley Falls community, Arnt took an active part in the work of the congregation and the Synod to which the congregation belongs. In 1907 Mr. and Mrs. Ole Simundson moved to Hanley Falls and Arnt operated the farm together with his brother, Martin, until 1920 when he moved into Hanley Falls to be with his parents. He resided in the village ever since. Mr. Simundson held many offices in the church and the community. He was auditor for eight years and secretary of the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church for 23 years; vice president of the bank for eleven years; director and secretary of the Norwegian Mutual Insurance Co. for eighteen years; secretary of the Farmers Elevator for 33 years. He also held offices in the township for many years. His health began to fail in July of 1955, and he sought medical help. He was taken to the Clarkfield Community Hospital and then moved to Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis. After two operations and a series of treatments, he passed away peacefully in the promises of his Savior on October 17, 1955. His parents and two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by one brother, Martin of Minneapolis; two sisters, Amalia of Hanley Falls and Amanda (Mrs. C.B. Seipp) of Tyler, Minnesota; four nephews and three nieces. At the time of his death he was 79 years, seven months and 13 days.
