Arnold C.A. Olson, son of John A. and Marianna (Lund) Olson, was born in Clarkfield on June 27, 1902. He was baptized at Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Rev. O.C. Farseth and confirmed in 1917 by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. While growing up on the parental farm in Tyro Township, he attended public school in District 29, now the Sportsmen's Club. He was a student at Lutheran Normal School one year and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1924. On September 6, 1924, he was united in marriage to Lenore Knutson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis by the Rev. A.O. Aasen. Two children were born: Beatta (Mrs. Roland Swanson) of Woodbury, Minnesota, and John K. of Yellowstone National Park. Grandchildren include Robert and James Swanson and Jeffrey, Patricia, John and Stephanie Olson. Arnold farmed for many years and worked for Minnesota Valley Breeders for 20 years. He was very active in church work, Hauge Male Chorus, church choir, Lion's Club, Hospital Board, ambulance force, Bi-Centennial Committee and other community activities. He was voted the Outstanding Male Senior Citizen of Yellow Medicine County of 1976. Arnold passed away November 15, 1976, at Community Memorial Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, at the age of 74 years. Survivors include his wife; two children; six grandchildren; two sisters: Jennie (Mrs. Joseph Haaland) of Owatonna, and Edna (Mrs. Henry Johnson) of Clarkfield; one foster sister, Evelyn (Mrs. G.C. Listul) of Detroit Lakes; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Selma (Mrs. Martin Mikelson), Laura (Mrs. Thormod Amdahl), and Cecelia (Mrs. Titus Ueland); brother Clarence; and two foster brothers: Otis Payne and Carmondy Helgeson.
