Arnold Herman Leppke was born June 15, 1919, in Tyro Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, at the home of his parents Fred T. and Martha (Roske) Leppke. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in 1919 and confirmed in May of 1933 at St. John's. Arnold attended St. John's Parochial School and District 49. Arnold and Elna Elenora Weckwerth were united in marriage at St. John's (Sparta) Parsonage on October 13, 1940. To this union were born two sons: Donald and Lyle. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and also was on the St. John's School Board. He enjoyed fishing and his fishing trips to the Missouri River with his brothers and family. He enjoyed the lake cabin on Lake Minnewaska; playing cards at the Senior Center in Montevideo and Clarkfield; and also enjoyed his activities with the Boyd Sportsman Club. Arnold passed away at his home in Montevideo, Minnesota, on Friday, October 4, 2002, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 19 days. He is survived by his wife Elna, resident at Luther Haven; his daughter-in-law Ruth Leppke of Canby, Minnesota; grandchildren: Janet (and John) (Leppke) Nutter of Ramsey, Minnesota, Martha (and Troy) (Leppke) Muhl of Minneota, Minnesota, David (and Angela) Leppke of Canby, Minnesota; five great grandchildren: Dallas Muhl, Kristian Leppke, Garret Muhl, Sierra Nutter, and Kaylee Leppke; brothers Victor and Ed Leppke; and sister Lydia (and Erhardt) Koepp. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Lyle and Donald; and brother Harry.
