Arnold R. Johnson of Apple Valley, Minnesota, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the University of Minnesota Hospital, at the age of 83 years. Arnold was born October 27, 1924, the son of Arnold M. and Verna (Cox) Johnson, in Woodbury County, Sioux City, Iowa, and grew up in the Granite Falls, Minnesota area where he attended Granite Falls High School and was a member of the varsity football team. Arnold managed the Wegdahl Co-op Elevator for 29 years. He later moved to Burnsville, Minnesota, and was employed by Harvest States Co-op. After he retired, Arnold worked for Avis Car Rental, driving cars around the Twin Cities area. Arnold is preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Joliene. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis; Daughters: Jane Johnson, Judy Johnson and Janell (Jeff) Voigt. He is also survived by grandchildren: Kelly Smith (Jane), Kim Collins (Jane), Missy Arneson (Judy), Justin Peterson (Judy), Katlin Voight (Janell), Tyler Voigt (Janell) and Jack Voight (Janell); great grandchildren: Mathew Smith (Kelly), Ben Smith (Kelly), Jordin Arneson (Missy) and Colton Arneson (Missy); a brother Donald (Irene); sisters: Zelma (Ewald) Wanagas, Vivien (Dave) Wiitamak, and Jackie (Oliver) MacKenzie.
