Armenta Meredith Frichtel passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2007, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 10 days. During her last days, she was surrounded by her loving family and the devoted care of the Valhalla Assisted Living Staff. Armenta was born June 14, 1918, to John and Mary (Amundson) Cornelius in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. During WWII, Armenta moved to San Diego, California, and worked at Consolidated Aircraft Company as a parts inspector. While working there, she met and married Edward (Ted) Frichtel in 1944. Following the war they moved to Cottage Grove, Oregon, where they owned and operated a dairy for 14 years. After moving briefly to Grangeville, Idaho, they settled back in San Diego. After the death of her husband in 1980, she enjoyed traveling with her friends and the company of her grandchildren. Armenta moved to her childhood home of Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1992, where she enjoyed the companionship of her brothers, sisters and many life long friends. Armenta is survived by her daughters: Linda Reiter (and Gary) of San Diego, California, and Marie Wylan Carr (and David) of San Francisco, California. She also will be greatly missed by her 10 grandchildren: Wayne, Curtis and Maren Reiter, Beth Bartel, Brenda Boylan, Jacques, Joel, Mary, Vickie and David Wylan; her sisters: Janice Kietzmann, Doris Morland, brother, Virgil Cornelius all of Clarkfield; sister-in-law Ruby Cornelius of Montevideo, Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward (Ted) Frichtel; daughter, Ann Bartel; granddaughter Denise Wylan; brothers Chester, Ward, James and Alvin; sister-in-law Vernice Cornelius; brothers-in-law Gerald Kietzmann, Arden Morland; and nephew Wayne Cornelius.
