Ari Mikael Thurman, 17, of Finland and currently living in Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Sunday, January 22, 1984, at the home of his sponsors. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 1984, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Rev. William Green of Marshall, Minnesota, and Pastor Gordon Trelstad of Clarkfield officiating. Final Resting Place is in Ari's home country of Finland. He was born May 6, 1966, in Tampere, Finland. He attended school in Finland and was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. In August he arrived in the United States as an exchange student under the American Scandinavian Exchange Program. He attended Clarkfield High School as a senior and lived with sponsors Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wendell and their two daughters in rural Clarkfield. He was known as a happy student who enjoyed taking part in high school activities. He is survived by his mother Meeri Thurman and sister Katri of Mikkeli, Finland. At the funeral the organist was Mrs. Ann Stensrud with vocal music by the Clarkfield Senior High School Mixed Ensemble led by Merry Beth Jaeger. Casket Bearers were Kenny Johnson, Mark Brown, Todd Johnson, Bruce Rader, Kelvin Rysdahl and Alan West. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
