Ardyth Geraine (Hanson) Swanson was born December 12, 1927, at Hayfield, Minnesota, to parents Gerald and Mabel (Bjaastad) Hanson. She was baptized (February 12, 1928) and confirmed, both at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hayfield. She was a graduate of Hayfield High School. Ardy married Nels Wesley Swanson on June 20, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran of Hayfield. They were the parents of three sons, Charles, Gregory and Keith and one daughter, Kristen. The Swanson family moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, in September of 1969, and for many years, Ardy worked as a clerk at Field's Grocery. Ardy was active in the Care Center Auxiliary; a member of the Legion Auxiliary; and was an active member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church and WELCA. She enjoyed playing "bunco" and the Birthday Club in Granite Falls. She passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Friday, September 13, 2002, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 74 years and 9 months. She is survived by her children: Charles of Clarkfield, Gregory of Tuscon, Arizona, and Kristen of Clarkfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Missy Rohwer, Chad Swanson, Nick Swanson, Ben Swanson, Jasmine Swanson, and Krista Sommerfield; and by nephew Dan (and Erin) Folkert. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wes; son: Keith; and sister and brother-in law: Una and Vince Folkert. Blessed be her memory.
