IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anton A.
Brusven
October 4, 1924 – April 8, 2013
Anton A. Brusven October 4, 1924 ~ April 8, 2013 Anton A. Brusven was born October 4, 1924, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Arnold and Johanna (Hanson) Brusven. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. He attended country school only three years because he had to stay home and help his dad farm with horses. Anton farmed his entire life. Because of his little schooling, he decided he had to educate himself. It took him a long time to memorize his multiplication tables and division was equally as hard. For some reason he didn't have difficulty with reading. On September 4, 1949, he married Dorothy Aakvik. The buildings on the farm where they lived were very run down, so he had to build a house, barn, granary, pig barns and a shop. On August 4, 1979, a tornado went through his farm destroying nine buildings and the house was a shambles. The corn field was planted north and south so he could only combine so far and then looked back to see if he was in the right row or not. If the corn was planted east and west, he could only combine one way and drive back empty. One day, Anton went to chisel plow and the corn stalks caught on fire in the gas tank of his tractor. He was lucky to get out of the tractor on time. Anton liked fishing and made several trips to Canada. He always had many head of cattle. He milked cows, liked to garden, enjoyed dancing, playing cards and liked to pheasant and deer hunt. Anton was "special" to many people. He was sought after by his neighbors asking "how do you set the drill to make that beautiful wheat field" or "how do you cut hay and put it into a pile." He was a very good mechanic. Anton passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Monday morning, April 8, 2013 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 4 days. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy and his sons: Thomas (Kris) of Montevideo, Steven (Nancy) of rural Cottonwood, Jeffrey of Clarkfield and Edward (Kimberly) of Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Patricia, Emily, Corey, Lesley, Jeremy, Ashley, Danielle, Erin and Callie; one great grandchild; sister, June Weaver; brother Sam (Kathy) Brusven; sister-in- law, Marilyn Brusven and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milo and Ernest; infant sister, Marie; brother-in- law, Max Weaver and sister-in-law, Velda Brusven. In Loving Memory of Anton A.
