Funeral services for Anton J. Anderson, age 95, of Cottonwood, Minnesota, were held Sunday, December 9, 1984, 2:00 p.m., at St. Lucas Lutheran Church with Pastor John T. Christiansen officiating. Organist was Connie Pehrson with vocal music by Lila Mauland, Lois Albin and Ione Knudson. Honorary Casket Bearers were Johannes Anderson, Nels Anderson, John Anderson, Selmer Anderson, Marvin Anderson and Jessie Skaaren. Casket bearers were nephews, George Anderson, Arvid Anderson, Melvin Anderson, Gerhard Anderson, Arthur Lien and James Lien. Final Resting Place is the St. Lucas Cemetery, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was born November 21, 1889, in Vallers Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, to Johannes and Anne (Granai Nielsen) Anderson, in the homestead log house. He was the eleventh child of thirteen. He was baptized December 22, 1889, at St. Lucas Church, also confirmed at St. Lucas, May 28, 1905. He attended school at the Hovdesven school and helped his dad farm. When he was twenty, Anton went to Madison Normal School for three months. On June 27, 1912, Anton and Selma Brenden of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, were married. He continued to farm. They lived in Section 36, Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County. He was also a trucker of grain and livestock for his neighbors. When his wife died in 1962, he lived with his daughter in Normania Township and continued to help with the farming. Later living in Cottonwood, Minnesota a few years, he entered the Clarkfield Care Center in 1979, where he died December 6, 1984. He is survived by his daughter Myrtle Lovsness of Cottonwood and a brother, Tolvin Anderson of Fargo, North Dakota, also four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Selma, seven brothers and four sisters, Anders, Johan, Gunvald (died in infancy), Gunvald, Magnus, Gunhild (Mrs. Kristian Skaaren), Carl, Annetta (Mrs. Nils Lien), Anton, Nicholie (died in infancy), Theoline (Mrs. Otto Kompelien), and Clara.
