IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Annie Helena
Oraas
December 18, 1871 – October 31, 1949
Annie Helena Oraas was born December 18, 1871, in Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Ingeborg (Peterson) Oraas. She was baptized by Rev. J.E. Bergh in the old Yellow Medicine congregation. Being deaf and unable to speak, she entered the Minnesota School for the Deaf at Faribault at the age of nine years. She completed her studies there at the age of 18 years. She lived at home with her parents until her mother died in 1910. She then made her home with Mr. and Mrs. George Quam for a number of years. She was admitted to the Minnesota School and Colony in 1929. Here she remained until she passed away on October 31, 1949, at the age of 77 years, ten months and thirteen days. Her parents, one brother, Andrew, and two sisters, Nettie (Mrs. George Quam) and Eleanora (Mrs. Fritjof Myhre) preceded her in death. She is survived by four brothers: Otto of Fargo, North Dakota, Hans of Swanson, Saskatchewan, Canada, Alfred of White Bear, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Torphin of Sanctuary, Saskatchewan, Canada; four sisters: Mrs. Rebecca Dotseth of Minneapolis, Mrs. Albert Dotseth of Hazel Run, Minnesota, and Mrs. Albert Myhre and Mrs. Oscar Dotseth of the Clarkfield community. Annie talked much about her Savior and longed to go to her heavenly home, where she will be handicapped no more. Blessed be her memory.
