Annie "Imo" Haugen was born in Colo, Iowa, on October 27, 1895, to James T.C. and Minnie (Etnier) Homan. In early childhood, the family moved to Beaver Creek, Minnesota, and later to rural Clarkfield, Minnesota. She married Knute S. Haugen on March 4, 1914, at her parents farm near Clarkfield. They started married life on the farm, four miles east of Clarkfield and lived there until they moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota. As many know, she was a hard working farm wife and after moving to Granite Falls, was an avid gardener, her special love being roses. Imo passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 1990, at 1:50 p.m., at the age of 94, at the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota. She had been a resident of the Care Center since 1985. Her health deteriorated noticably since a bout with pneumonia in November of 1989. She is survived by sons, Glen of St. Paul, Minnesota, Harold of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Orrin of Montevideo, Minnesota; daughter, Gladys (Mrs. Darold) Doose of Granite Falls; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Haugen, Clarkfield; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Knute in 1978; son, Kermit in 1980; and grandson, Roger in 1973; her sister and three brothers.
