Mrs. Charlie Brock was born October 31, 1880, at Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of David and Margaret (Taylor) Sharkey. On December 12, 1899, Annie Sharkey was united in marriage to Charlie Brock at Lake City, Iowa. They made their home there and at Webster City, Iowa, until they moved to Clarkfield eight years ago. To this union, nine children were born; four infants preceded her in death, namely, Myrthe, Florence, Franklin and Malcolm. They were members of Lake City Methodist Church and transferred their membership to Clarkfield Methodist Church shortly after moving. The Brocks observed their 65th wedding anniversary last December and both were able to be about their own kitchen and prepare their meals. Mrs. Brock passed away April 20, 1965, at the Clarkfield Hospital, after an illness of two months, at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her husband and five children: Violet (Mrs. Kennneth Wollen) of Mankato, Minnesota, Loyal of Glidden, Iowa, Charles of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Robert and Margaret (Mrs. Jay Smolley) of Clarkfield; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Rebecca Bruce of Lake City, Iowa, and Mrs. Joe Shanklin of Lytton, Iowa, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
