IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna Mae
(Swenson) Christensen
June 24, 1883 – December 29, 1937
Anna Mae Christensen was born June 24, 1883, in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Susie (Larson) Swenson. She was baptized in the Christian faith by Rev. Lokensgaard and confirmed by Rev. Farseth in Clarkfield Lutheran Church. She attended school in Fargo, North Dakota, to learn the trade of millinery. Following the completion of this school she worked in various places including the Twin Cities, Chicago, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Madison, South Dakota, Minneota, Minnesota, and also operated a dress shop in Clarkfield. Many years of her life were devoted to the loving care of her aged parents, especially in the care of her mother, who was ill for a long period of time. On December 29, 1937, she was united in marriage to Alex Christensen and they maintained a very happy home in Clarkfield for almost nineteen years. Mrs. Christensen had been in failing health for some time and, last fall, she moved to the home of her sister where she stayed until Sunday, April 20, 1958. When her condition became suddenly serious, she was brought to the hospital at Montevideo, where she passed away at the age of 74 years, nine months and 26 days. She is survived by one brother, Swen Swenson; two sisters: Mrs. Thea Christensen and Mrs. Nellie Benage; the following step children: Idella (Mrs. Ludwig Peterson), Blanche (Mrs. Olaf Froland), Clarence and Floyd Christensen, all of Clarkfield, Inez Johnson and Mrs. Vivian Kolflat of Minneapolis; also twenty nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss Anna Mae very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Sophie, and a brother, Lewis. Mrs. Christensen was a faithful member of Spring Creek congregation and of the Spring Creek ladies aid. Anna Mae was always cheerful, kind, understanding, willing to help and so very thoughtful of others in their joys and in their sorrows. To all of the younger folks, she was "Auntie" who loved children very much and they loved her. May God bless her memory.
