Anna N. (Sabe) Applewick was born February 9, 1912, in Swede Prairie Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Heine and Susan (Hide) (Nelsen) Sabe. She was baptized and confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church, where she remained a faithful member her entire life. Anna and Melvin L. Applewick were united in marriage on May 4, 1943, at the church parsonage in Dawson, Minnesota. They were the parents of a son, Allen. Anna and Melvin farmed in Tyro Township of Yellow Medicine County their entire life. She also worked outside the home, at the Clarkfield Care Center, in the laundry department for many years. She enjoyed making quilts, working in her flower garden, and baking and cooking, always wanting to try a new recipe. She was a faithful member of the WELCA of Israel Lutheran Church. Anna made Valhalla Apartments in Clarkfield her home since 1991 (shortly after the death of her husband). She was living there at the time of her death on Saturday evening, March 16, 2002, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 7 days. She is survived by her son Allen, of rural Clarkfield; sister Tillie Enstad of Valhalla Apartments in Clarkfield; and sister-in-law Myrtle Appelwick of the Clarkfield Care Center; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; sister Hazel Friberg; and brothers Anton and Harold Sabe. Blessed be her memory.
