Anna Mathilda Olson Rodness was born in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on December 20, 1878, thus she would have been 91 years old this month. Her parents were Bengt and Pernilla (Swenson) Olson. She was baptized in infancy at the home and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Fridhem Church by Rev. Bengtson. She was united in marriage on March 9, 1904, to Peter O. Rodness at the Fridhem Church by Rev. Shaleen. One son, Clarence, was born to this union on February 18, 1905. He departed this life on March 28, 1969. She lost her husband, Peter, on April 13, 1948, and a year later, she moved to Clarkfield where she purchased a home. She was a life member of the Women's Missionary Society, the Dorcas Aid and ALCW. In May, 1967, she became very ill and spent the remaining years in the local hospital and nursing home. Mrs. Rodness is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Reka Roedl of Clarkfield and Mrs. Robert Devereaux of Wadena; daughter-in-law, Irene Rodness; two grandchildren: Avis (Mrs. Kevin Tait) of Lexington, Massachusetts, and Roger Rodness of West St. Paul; a foster son, Verner, who came to her home at the age of 18 months; three great grandchildren: Christopher, Timothy and Andrew Tait; six nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Christina, Emma, Elizabeth; and brothers: Olaf, Ernest and Henry; as well as an infant brother. IN MEMORY OF MRS. P. O.
