Anna Hoberg, long time resident of Boyd, was born December 17, 1888, at Red Wing, Minnesota, the daughter of Anton and Julia (Johnson) Nelson. When she was six years old her family moved to Boyd where she has since resided. She was confirmed November 10, 1901, by Pastor J.S. Strand. She was the first telephone operator at the Boyd Telephone Office and was employed there until she was married to Henry Hoberg on November 24, 1912. The Hobergs resided at the farm one mile south of Boyd until they moved to Boyd in 1936. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Boyd and in community affairs. In April of 1970, Anna moved to the Madison Luthern Home at Madison, Minnesota, where she passed away on September 21, 1971, at the age of 82 years. Anna is survived by three daughters: Charlotte of Luverne, Minnesota, Jane Ostergaard of San Leandro, California, and Dorothy (Mrs. Kurt Steingraeber) of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Mrs. Edna Opedahl of Madison, Minnesota; and one brother; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry, who passed away in 1950, and a son, Howard. IN MEMORY OF ANNA B.
