Anna Marie Meyer June 30, 1889 ~ August 16, 1967 Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday August 19, 1967 for Miss Anna Marie Meyer, age 78, at the Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, Lake Benton. Rev. Frank Lunn of Danebod Lutheran Church, Tyler, officiated with interment at the Diamond Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased, Stanley Meyer, Soren Meyer, Harlan Meyer, Ivan Meyer, Marvin Meyer and Arild Olson. Mrs. Bessie Johansen was organist and Mrs. Leon Krog, Mrs. Howard Krog; Mrs. Einer Kjergaard and Miss Marie Anderson composed the choir. They sang, as a special number one of Anna's favorite hymns. "Children of the Heavenly Father". The congregation joined in singing "O Jesus Thou are Standing, Outside the Fast Closed Door" and "Lead Kindly Light". Mrs. Harlan Meyer and Mrs. Ivan Meyer were in charge of floral arrangements. Anna Marie Meyer was born at the farm home in Drammen Township June 30, 1889. her parents were Maren (Andersen) Meyer and Soren Meyer. She was baptized and confirmed in the Diamond Lake Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of that church. She lived at home with her parents and in 1915, when they moved to Lake Benton, she kept house for her brother, Hans. At the death of her brother Peter's wife in 1926, she and her brother Hans cared for the three motherless children, Stanley, Soren and Thelma until they grew up. In 1950, she moved to her little home in Lake Benton. In January 1952, she suffered a severe stroke which left her right side paralyzed. For a time she was cared for at her home by her niece, Thelma (Mrs. Eldon Showalter). Later she was hospitalized for several months at Hendricks. She was transferred to a Tracy Rest home, and later at Mrs. Anna Plagman's Rest home in Walnut Grove until 1961 when she was again at the Hendricks hospital for a while. In the fall of the same year she was moved to the Clarkfield nursing home where she resided until her death, with the exception of four months at the hospital there. On July 31st she came back to the Nursing home where she slipped peacefully away on August 16, 1967. During her long invalidism she was never idle as long as she could use her hands through one was crippled she spent many hours in her favorite hobby, crocheting and other handwork. She also loved to read and was very grateful to the friends who brought her reading material. She also looked forward to each Sunday when the Pastors of Clarkfield conducted services at the Rest home. She leaves to mourn her passing, two brothers, Hans and Peter of Lake Benton and one sister Ruth (Mrs. Thorvald Kjaer) of Aarhaus, Denmark. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Christ, three sisters, (Christine) Mrs. Carl Oleson, Thea and an infant sister and many nieces and nephews.
