May 4, 1880 – August 2, 1897
Mrs. Anna Hatlen was born May 4, 1880, in Lyon County, Minnesota, near Minneota, the daughter of Knute and Martha Helgeson. She was baptized and confirmed in Minneota Lutheran Church by Rev. A.N. Kleven. On August 2, 1897, Anna was united in marriage to Mr. Roe Hatlen of Minneota, Minnesota. To this union twelve children were born. A few years before Mr. Hatlen's death, the family moved to the Clarkfield Community and were living on what is now the Raymond Miller farm when the family head passed beyond. Preceding Mrs. Hatlen in death besides her husband, were two children, Rose and Marie, and a sister, Mrs. Freed, of Williston, North Dakota. Surviving children are Olga (Mrs. Watters) of Minneapolis, Martha (Mrs. Elmer Aakvik) of Clarkfield, Amanda (Mrs. S. Swennes) of Kalispell, Montana, Harold and Robert, both of Libby, Montana, Annie (Mrs. George Benage) of Danube, Minnesota, Norma (Mrs. LeRoy Hilgart) of Bird Island, Minnesota, Ida (Mrs. Leslie Vien) of Clarkfield, Nettie (Mrs. Rev. Clayton Berre) of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Betty Lou (Mrs. Harold Liljequist) of Minneapolis; also one brother, H.K. Helgeson of Minneota; 35 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A kindly, sincere Christian woman, she was loved by all who knew her, a kind and devoted mother. Blessed be her memory.
