Andrew J. Anderson was born May 30, 1870, in Mower County, Minnesota, of parents Johannes Anderson and Anna Jonasdatter. Andrew came with his parents from Mower County when he was one year old and lived in the Normania community all his life, except for a few of the latter years, which they spent in Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On December 28, 1901, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Nelson and they made their home in Normania Township. To this union ten children were born, five of these having preceded him in death. Surviving him are his wife, Gertrude and five children, namely, Johannes and Gerhard of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Nels of St. Hilaire, Minnesota, Mrs. Sverre Lien of Milaca, Minnesota, and Mrs. Theodore Trandahl of Dawson, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Gunhild Skaaren, Goodridge, Minnesota, Mrs. Nels Lien, Montevideo, Minnesota, and Mrs. Otto Kompelien, Minneota, Minnesota; also three brothers: Magnus Anderson of Goodridge, Minnesota, Anton J. Anderson of Cottonwood, and Tolvin J. Anderson of Fargo, North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. Andrew was a faithful member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church and served on many of the church boards and committees when the church was built. He was also a deacon and secretary for many years. He passed away Friday morning, April 27, 1956, at the age of 85 years. IN MEMORY OF ANDREW J.
