Obituary

Andrew Droen, a lifelong resident of the Clarkfield community, passed away very suddenly at his farm home on Friday afternoon, October 21, 1955, at the age of 62 years, five months and eight days. He was born on the Droen homestead in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on May 13, 1893, the son of Anders and Inger (Olson) Droen. He was baptized May 31, 1893, in the Bergen Lutheran Church by Rev. Ole Lokensgaard and confirmed on July 19, 1908, in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Rev. O.T. Storaasli. He has been a member of this church since that time. He attended country school in Lisbon Township and has been actively engaged in farming since, having taken over the Droen homestead where he and his sister, Susie, have made their home together. Andrew was elected to the Board of Directors of the Clarkfield Farmers Elevator in 1934 and has served as president of the Board for 20 years. He was a kind and loving brother and was always willing to help his relatives and friends in any way. Nieces and nephews especially looked to "Uncle Andrew" when good advice and a steadying hand were needed. He attended his church regularly and was of the more humble and quiet religious type. He will be sorely missed by his relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn his passing three sisters: Susie, who shared the home with him, Tillie (Mrs. G.M. Anderson) of Clarkfield, and Mrs. Jeanette Bue of Minneapolis; besides several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by is parents, three brothers: Lewis and Severt and an infant brother; four sisters: Emma (Mrs. Carl Iverson), Josie (Mrs. Elias Engevik), Annie (Mrs. Andrew Smolley), and Carey Droen.
