Amelia Lucille (Stenevik) Stensrud was born May 7, 1922 in Yellow Medicine County to parents Lars and Tilda (Thompson) Stenevik. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at the Clarkfield Norwegian Lutheran Church by Rev. J. E. H. Akre. Her family spent most of their years farming in the Clarkfield and Granite Falls areas. Amelia married Melvin B. Stensrud on August 16, 1940 at the Norwegian Lutheran Church of Clarkfield. They spent the next 16 years in Clarkfield, where she was employed at the United States Department of Agriculture Office. In 1965 the family moved to Bloomington, where she continued her work with the Federal Government, Department of Interior, where she was employed until her retirement. Amelia passed away at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, on Tuesday, June 2, 1998 at the age of 76 years and 24 days. She is survived by her children: Kevin (and Sharon) Stensrud of Rogers, MN; Linnae Bauer of Cold Spring, MN; Jeanette Andresen of Eagan, MN; and Jeffrey Stensrud of Bloomington, MN. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a long time companion Thomas Geanakoplos, plus several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters: June Stenevik, Elaine Payne, and Laila Emblem. Blessed be her memory.
