Amanda Friberg was born September 24, 1881, at Bernadotte, Nicollet County, Minnesota, the daughter of Christine and Nels Mons Willander. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On December 18, 1902, she was united in marriage to Swen August Friberg. Ten children were born to this union. All but one, John Arthur, survive their mother. They include Victor of Webster, South Dakota, Raymond of Eugene, Oregon, Chester of Montevideo, Myron and Harold of Clarkfield, Marcella (Mrs. Milo Mikelson) of St. Peter, Minnesota, Sidney and Gwendolyn (Mrs. Fred Ballard) of Seattle, Washington, and Fidelia (Mrs. Eugene Crumrine) of Edmunds, Washington. Mrs. Friberg spent all her married life in the Clarkfield community where she was a faithful member of Augustana Lutheran Church. During the past year and a half she has lived with her daughter in St. Peter, Minnesota, where she was taken ill and departed this life on February 17, 1964, at the age of 82 years. Along with her children, she is survived by 18 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Anderson of Clarkfield; one brother, Willie Willander of Minneapolis, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1938; one son; six brothers: Jann, August, Mathias, Leonard, Edwin and Oscar Willander; four sisters: Lena, Alice (Mrs. Charles Anderson), Lena (Mrs. John Lindall) and Anna Willander.
