Amanda Cornelius was born on December 7, 1893, in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Gunerius and Mathia (Sorum) Grinager. She passed quietly away at Northridge Nursing Home, Ortonville, Minnesota, on Sunday afternoon, November 6, 1983, at the age of 89 years, 11 months. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Bergen Lutheran Church of Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County. She was united in marriage to Conrad Cornelius of Clarkfield, Minnesota, on November 18, 1920. To this union were born six children. She lived most of her life on a farm near Clarkfield. After the death of her husband, she moved to an apartment in Montevideo, Minnesota. Due to illness, she moved to Ortonville to be near her daughter. When she was unable to stay in her own apartment, she became a resident at the Northridge Nursing Home of Ortonville until she passed away. She leaves to mourn her passing, four sons: Clinton of Alexandria, Gaylen and Allen of Clarkfield, Donald of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two daughters: Darleen (Mrs. Rueben) Sather of Sisseton, South Dakota and Shirley (Mrs. Stan) Lynne of Ortonville; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Larson of Clarkfield; and one brother George Grinager of Clarkfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad; her parents; one grandson, Lynn Cornelius; two step-brothers, Ole and Arnt Melbostad. Although it is never easy to say goodbye to someone you love, it is with thankful hearts to know that Mother is no longer in pain and is in the loving hands of our Heavenly Father.
