Alyce Mabel Quaal was born April 16, 1924, to Sievert and Mary (Erickson) Quaal in Ten Mile Lake Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. She was a member of the Boyd High School graduating class of 1942. She was a lifelong resident of Boyd with the exception of a short period of time that she worked in Arizona after her graduation. On September 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lionel G. Hartfiel of Boyd. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School many years, and was interested in civic affairs. She was employed at Arneson Drug in Montevideo, Minnesota, the past two years and actively worked there to the time of her sudden illness. Mrs. Hartfiel passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, September 17, 1972, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota, where she had submitted to surgery the past week. She was 48 years of age. She is survived by her husband; two daughters: Donna and Bonnie (Mrs. Ron Kopitzke); her son-in- law, Ron; her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Hartfiel; two sisters: Mrs. George Mitlyng and Mrs. Louie Lauritsen, and a brother, Lloyd, all of the Boyd/Montevideo area; and eight nieces and nephews. In Memory Of MRS. LIONEL G.
