Alvina Sommer Timm was born on December 24, 1880, at Green Lake, Wisconsin, the daughter of William Edward and Erstina Wilhelmina (Kuehn) Sommer. In infancy, she was baptized at Green Lake, Wisconsin. The family moved to Montevideo in 1886 where her father was killed in a threshing accident with a team of horses. In the late fall her mother wed Fredrick Eckhardt. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Tyro Township by Pastor August Hilger on June 28, 1896. On December 8, 1898, Alvina became the wife of Henry Timm. To this union two children were born: Carl on October 21, 1899, died on December 19, 1950, and Louie died in infancy in 1903. Mrs. Timm passed away at the Dawson Hospital on Sunday, September 6, 1964. She reached the age of 83 years. She is survived by one half-sister, Mrs. Carl Ferber of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; and one sister-in- law, Mrs. Alvina Hasse of Swanville, Minnesota; three step-sisters: Mrs. Tillie Sellen of Sherman Oaks, California, Mrs. Gustie Chase of Los Angeles, California, and Clara Wiegers of Boyd, Minnesota; one step-brother, Otto Eckhardt of Blue Earth, Minnesota; besides a number of nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1941; her two sons; her parents and step-father; four sisters and a brother, all of whom died in infancy; three step-brothers: Leo, Charlie and Fred Eckhardt; and one step-sister, Emma Hartfiel.
