(Alness) Cole
August 10, 1928 – March 21, 1991
Alvina S. Cole was born August 10, 1928, to Magnus and Inga (Foss) Alness. She was baptized and confirmed at the Spring Creek Lutheran Church, and attended rural school near Clarkfield, Minnesota. On November 5, 1949, she married Virgil Cole of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, at Spring Creek Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born, Dean and Gary. She farmed with her husband, south of Hanley Falls, all her married life. She enjoyed faithful work at her church with Ladies Aid and other church activities. Her special interests were homemaking and baking for her family. Family times were her special love. She and her husband spent the winter months, for the past ten years, in Mesa, Arizona where she passed away at the age of 62 years on Thursday, March 21, 1991 at the Mesa Lutheran Hospital following a brave struggle with cancer. Surviving Vi are her husband, Virgil of rural Hanley Falls; two sons, Dr. Dean Cole and wife, Monica and daughter, Kenan of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Dr. Gary Cole and wife, Eva and daughter, Alicia of the Washington, D.C. area; one sister, Jerry (Mrs. Bill) Schrupp of Montevideo, Minnesota; three brothers, Ornie of Clarkfield, Inghart of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Marlow of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Merlin.
