Alvin Sanford Isaacs was born November 24, 1892, in Hazel Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Peter L. and Anna (Stevens) Isaacs. He was baptized and confirmed in Hauge Church near Hazel Run, Minnesota. He died on September 13, 1986, at the age of 93 at the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota. On May 24, 1916, Alvin was married to Esther May Thompson who died in 1924. To this union three children were born Delores, Lyle and Althea. On October 27, 1928, Alvin was married to Alma Western, who died giving birth to their son, Alton in 1929. Alvin married Cora (Anderson) Lee in 1939, who died in 1984. To this union a daughter, Carmen was born. Alvin farmed for many years in the Clarkfield and Hazel Run area. In 1935 he became Chief of Police In Clarkfield and also headed the Water Works Department until his retirement in 1957. During the war he briefly left this position to do defense work in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anna (Stevens) Isaacs; wives Esther, Alma and Cora; brothers Ernest and Reed; sister Inez Tongen. Survivors include two sons, Lyle and Alton; three daughters, Delores (Mrs. William) Zethraus, Althea (Mrs. Stanley) Zethraus, and Carmen (Mrs. Ron) Lindstrom; and one step-daughter-Dorothy (Mrs. Olaf) Blaness; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one brother Murl Isaacs; and four sisters, Cyantha Tongen, Gladys Dotseth, Myrtle (Mrs. Hewlitt) Smith and Geveivive LaCount.
