Alvin Hanson was born on November 4, 1903, in Normania Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Ole and Emma (Brusven) Hanson. He was a member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church, being baptized and confirmed there and remaining a member his entire life. Alvin and Myrtle Stokke were married on September 30, 1934, at the Lutheran parsonage in Granite Falls, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with four sons: Allen, Elroy, Dale, and Ron. The Hansons farmed south of Clarkfield, Minnesota, until 1972, when they moved to Clarkfield. In 1976, they moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, living in their home for about eight years and then moving to an apartment. After the death of Myrtle, in 1992, Alvin moved to Brookside Manor and then to Luther Haven. He was a past member of the Normania Township Board and the Farmers Union Organization. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching the Minnesota Twins, playing pool and dancing. Alvin passed away early Sunday morning, November 18, 2001, at Luther Haven in Montevideo at the age of 98 years and 14 days. He is survived by his children and spouses; Allen (and LaVonne) of St. Paul, Minnesota; Elroy (and Nancy) of San Diego, California; Dale (and Linda) of Watson, Minnesota; and Ron (and Mary) of Rochester, Minnesota. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters: Evelyn (and Tony) Kruger-Septon, Amy Christensen and Mary (and Dan) Kruse; and brothers: Lloyd Hanson, Manley Hanson, and Arden (and JoAnn) Hanson He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Myrtle; and brothers: Winfred, Harry, and Orland.
