IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alton J.
"Tony" Hanson
July 12, 1989
Alton J. (Tony) Hanson was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota, to Martha and Henry T. Hanson on July 18, 1908. Except for living two years in Montana, he has resided in this community all his life. Tony was baptized and confirmed in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church where he has been a life long member. He attended school in Clarkfield. On June 13, 1936, he married Helma Vold of Hazel Run, Minnesota. To this union three daughters, Marlene, Virginia and LaVonne, were born. In June of 1986 they celebrated their Golden Anniversary with all their family present. Most of Tony's life was spent in agriculture. He farmed and was a Field Supervisor for the A.S.C.S. for 27 years. He enjoyed his work very much as it entailed traveling throughout the county measuring land. He was an avid reader. His family will remember him reciting many poems and verses from memory. Tony passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 1989, at the Luther Haven Nursing Home of Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 80. Tony is survived by his wife, Helma of rural Clarkfield; two daughters, Marlene Silver and husband Richard of Starbuck, Minnesota, and Virginia Swenson and husband Eldon of Bloomington, Minnesota; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Berdeen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. Helen Williams of Marshall, Minnesota; and one brother Virgil Hanson of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Preceding Tony in death were his parents, five brothers, two sisters, one daughter, two grandsons and one granddaughter. Blessed be his memory.
