Obituary

Alton Thomas Rolighed age 77, was the oldest child born to Ella (Erickson) and Arthur Rolighed on June 25, 1927, in Swift County, Appleton, Minnesota. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, Minnesota. Alton was re-baptized at Community Bible Church in Montevideo, Minnesota, in 1979. Alton served in the United States Army Air Force at Harmon Air Base, Stevenville, Newfoundland. He served in the military from November of 1945 to December of 1946. Alton married Earlene Maursetter on December 27, 1949. To this union, five children were born: Thomas Alton, Laurel Earlene, Ruth Ellen, Carmen Louise, and Jean Marie. Alton farmed for a number of years and during the winter months he taught public speaking and sales training to big corporations. The later years of his life were spent in the farm machinery business. He loved to laugh and tell stories of his experiences. He was a devoted Christian and gave his personal testimony at many Full Gospel Businessmen's meetings throughout Canada and the United States. Alton passed away at his home in Clarkfield, Minnesota, early Tuesday morning, February 22, 2005, at the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 28 days. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Earlene, and his children: Thomas (and Robyn) Rolighed of Clarkfield, Laurel (and Ron) Hartfiel of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Ruth Wilson of Hazel Run, Minnesota, Carmen Rolighed of Dawson,Minnesota, and Jean Roiighed of Willmar, Minnesota. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Pat (and Jada) Rolighed, Kristin Rolighed, Tera (and Mike) Lauer, Matt Wilson, Amber (and Ryan) Bakken, Corey Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Patrice (and Josh) Arfsten, Ahnna Hartfiel; and three great grandchildren: Morgan Rolighed, Drake and Foxx Johnson. He is also survived by brothers: Wesley, Douglas (and Kay) and Roger; and sisters Norma (and Keith) Erickson, Shirley (and Robert) Kuhlmann; and sisters-in-law: Flo Rolighed and Bethal (and Delmore) Fenske. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law Gifford and Ellnora Maursetter; two infant brothers; his brother Wendell; son-in-law Gregg Wilson; and sister-in-law Sarah Rolighed.
