Obituary

Alton Western Isaacs was born September 12, 1929, at Montevideo, Minnesota, to parents Alvin and Alma (Western) Isaacs. He was baptized at Hazel Run Lutheran Church, Hazel Run, Minnesota, at his mother's funeral. Alton was later confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1947. He lived with Lucius and Evie Tongen until he started farming. Alton married Rudell Hermanson on September 8, 1951. They were the parents of three children: Annette, Allan and Debbie. Alton and Rudell farmed in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, until 1956. He then became a Farmers Union Insurance Agent, a job he held for 52 years. He was County Chairman of Yellow Medicine Co. Farmers Union, Co-op Credit Union Board for 25 years, President of Bergen Church Board and was Treasurer of the Lisbon Township. Alton retired in 2001. Alton passed away at his home in Lisbon Township on Friday, May 9, 2008, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 27 days. He is survived by his wife Rudell and his children: Annette (John) Thompson of Spicer, Minnesota, Allan (Kathy) Isaacs of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and Debbie (Darrell) Landmark of Montevideo, Minnesota. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kelly Thompson of Bloomington, Minnesota, Jennifer (Craig) John of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Heather (Joel) Johnson of Blaine, Minnesota, Michael Thompson of Spicer, Minnesota, Laura (Dominic) Vescio of Blaine, Minnesota, Adam (Krista) Isaacs of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jessica Landmark, Darrin Landmark and Leah Landmark all of Montevideo, Minnesota, and his great grandchildren Madeline, Aspen, Olivia and Isaac Alton. Also surviving is his brother Lyle (Gail) Isaacs of Covina, California; and sisters Althea Zethraus of Platteville, Wisconsin, and Andrea (Ron) Lindstrom of Auburn, California; numerous nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Lucius Tongen. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, two sisters and eight brothers-in-law. Alton took great pride in his family. He enjoyed his countless friends, fishing, hunting, helping with the farming, talking with relatives in Norway and tracing his ancestry.
