Alonzo J.
Hanson
June 22, 1872 – January 11, 1953
Alonzo J. Hanson was born June 22, 1872, at Oakland, Nebraska, the son of James Hanson and Jennie (Torry) Hanson. On October 19, 1898, he was united in marriage to Elvira Davison at Lyons, Nebraska. Eight children were born to this union, one of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Hanson moved with his family from Lyons, Nebraska, to a farm three miles southwest of Granite Falls, Minnesota, in March, 1914, where he lived eight years. In March, 1922, the family moved to Hillsboro, North Dakota, and in 1924 moved to Litchfield, Minnesota, where he lived until moving to Clarkfield four and one-half years ago. Mr. Hanson had been in failing health for the past year and was taken to the Clarkfield Community Hospital December 30, 1952, and died January 11, 1953, having reached the age of 80 years, six months and 18 days. Seven brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. A daughter, Pearl died in May, 1949. Left to mourn his passing are his wife and seven children, namely: Raymond of Hillsboro, North Dakota, Gladys (Mrs. Edgar Schindler) of Yakima, Washington, Ruby (Mrs. Alonzo Wharton) of Clarkfield, Edith (Mrs. S.J. DeMarco) of Seattle, Washington, Gordon of Gardena, California, Howard of Los Angeles, California, and Chester of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Jennine Hanson of Newcastle, Nebraska, Lily (Mrs. J.H. Gillihan) of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Effie Nash of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mrs. Myrtle Jones of Santa Monica, California; besides many nieces and nephews.
