Alma Lizetta Kopitzke Rikke was born May 8, 1904, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Magdalena (Weigers) Kopitzke. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Omro Township. On May 17, 1925, she was united in marriage to John Rikke at the same church. To this union four children were born, namely: Sheldon of Indianapolis, Indiana, Shirla of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Arvid of Boyd, Minnesota, and Ruth Ann of Indianapolis, Indiana. The Rikkes farmed southwest of Boyd, Minnesota, until 1932 when they moved to Bird Island, Minnesota. In 1936, they moved back to the farm southwest of Boyd where they lived until moving to Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1958. Alma was active in many church activities. She worked as a cook in the Clarkfield Care Center and also at the Clarkfield Community Hospital. She had been in failing health the past few years and passed away on May 11, 1971, having attained the age of 67 years on the previous Saturday. Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Gilman; three sisters: Emma (Mrs. Ed Riediger), Lydia (Mrs. Oscar Lilljestrale) and Bertha (Mrs. Otto Kerkow) of Jordon, Minnesota, and one granddaughter. Surviving her are the following: her husband, John; four children; fifteen grandchildren; two sisters and seven brothers: Herman of Brockton, Montana, Henry, Mrs. Ida Laechelt, and Edmund of Boyd, Minnesota, Otto of Mora, Minnesota, Oscar of Willmar, Minnesota, Clara (Mrs. Art Stueland) of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Edward of Sherman Oaks, California, and Landow of St. Paul, Minnesota.
