Obituary

Alma Leppke, 89, of Dawson, Minnesota, and formerly of Boyd, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 19, 1986, at the Dawson Hospital. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 1986, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Omro Township, with Pastor Jon N. Wolff officiating. The organist was Mrs. Karen Mamer with special music by the St. John's Choir. They sang "How Great Thou Art." Other hymns sung by the congregation were "Jesus Savior Pilot Me," "I am But a Stranger Here" and "Asleep in Jesus." Casket Bearers were Arnold Walter, Everett Nevins, Alfred Beninga, Victor Leppke, Paul Piipke and Walter Lehmann. Final Resting Place is St. John's Lutheran Cemetery of Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was born May 27, 1896,in Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Gustav and Wilhelmina (Kruse) Bonn. She was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Tyro. On July 10, 1919, she married Fred H. Leppke. They had four sons, Wilfred, Ervin, Kermit and Curtis. Her husband died January 15, 1948. They spent their entire married life on their farm in Maxwell Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota. She continued to live on the farm until last November when she moved to Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson. Since her marriage she was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Omro. Up until failing health prevented it she was an active loyal member of their Ladies Aid. Alma was always willing to lend a helping hand and made many visits to nursing homes to visit her friends. When health failed her she was content to remain in her farm home enjoying it and her family. She is survived by her sons Wilfred, Ervin and Curtis all of rural Boyd and Kermit of Wahpteon, North Dakota; her daughter-in-law, Gladys and Grandson Randy; sister Hattie Walter of Boyd; and sister-in-law Louise Nevins. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son at birth; her parents; sisters Teresa Kienast and two in Germany; two brothers, August and Edward Bohn; and daughter-in-law Janneve Leppke.
